English Dialogues & Short Stories

A1-A2 Beginners

Stories to help you learn, practise, and master English

Created for children everywhere who are learning English, this book is full of fun adventures and lovable characters. It includes charming original stories, inspiring moral fables with a modern twist, and adaptations of well-known fairy tales.

What’s special about these stories is their unique structure. Vocabulary and grammar are introduced step by step, story by story – similar to the steps that are normally used when learning English.

By closely following the normal English learning journey, this amazing collection of stories supports the learner through the CEFR A1 (beginner) and A2 (elementary) levels, like stepping-stones to confident reading in English.

Early on, the stories are mostly presented as dialogues. They are structured in logical groups of four lines, making it easy for learners to take turns reading with a parent, or with a friend who is also learning English.

Progressing through the book, turn-based dialogues give way to engaging short stories – some heavily dialogue-based and others mostly narrative-based. Through the second half of the book, they increase greatly in length and complexity (but are still fun), and will challenge the most eager learner.

English Dialogues & Short Stories For Kids is brought to you by a British author, but there are few differences between UK and American English at these low levels, so the book is very suitable for all learners. And although it’s written for kids, learners of any age are sure to find this book an enjoyable and rewarding learning experience.

Free extra content

When you buy this book, you also get exclusive free access to online versions of all the stories.

The online versions include a read-along voiceover. Designed to support the learner, the voiceovers use a clear, neutral UK voice, and are carefully paced with long pauses between sentences. This makes it easy for the learner to listen to and absorb the story.

Most of the online versions are also fully illustrated, with images that match the action for guided reading. This helps learners to easily understand and enjoy a story before switching back to the book, to read without the guiding hands of pictures and audio.
